Remembering Baby Peace

Image
Remembering Baby Peace  One year ago today, on Christmas, we lost our precious little one-Baby Peace. As I sit here in the quiet living room drinking my cup of hot coffee, with my light coming from the Christmas tree, I'm reflecting and remembering. I remember many answered prayers during that time. God gave us a baby, but then heartbreak as we lost that baby. Being scared that I had to do this alone (hubby was at work) and I had no one, so I prayed, and God heard the pleas and cries of my heart. I believe in praying specifically, so I started praying specifically for peace. Some friends also sent some messages that they too were praying. God answered me and gave me the most amazing peace ever!  "Fear thou not: for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee: yeah, I will help thee: yeah, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my  righteousness. I wasn't sure, so I did a little bit of research. This is what I found: Sweet treats, Books, Games (not board games), Action Figures/Collectibles, Bath and Beauty Basics. I found that to be interesting! I have a friend who puts her kids stockings on their bed before she goes to bed, so they wake up to a surprise! I have another friend sho just uses them for decorations. What about you?

Blogmas Post #15 There are only 10 days left until Christmas!  My question for you today is:  What is your favorite Christmas book? My all time favorite Christmas book is called, "The Legend of the Candy Cane." This one was written by Lori Walburg and illustrated by Richard Cowdrey. I love this book because it really captures children's attention, the pages are so beautifully illustrated, and it shares what Jesus did on the cross for us by using the candy cane as an analogy.  I have read this book to every class I have taught in school and at church, it is still my favorite! We just read this story on Wednesday to our group of kids and shared the gospel afterwards. Have you ever read this book? I have read other ones similar to this one, but this one is by far my favorite. Have you bought a book for your child yet this Christmas? I recommend this book if you haven't.  The Legend of the Candy Cane My 2nd favorite Christmas book is Annika's

Blogmas Post  #14 There are only 11 days left until Christmas!  My question for you today is: Does your Church Decorate for Christmas? Our church decorates for Christmas! We had a church wide decorating "party" a few Sundays ago. It was a lot of fun! We hung up wreaths, garland, and put up a tree! I meant to take some pictures of the finished product, but I forgot.  Scott is the song leader at our church! I love watching him do that, he really enjoys it! I captured this picture right before we started singing. You can see a few of the Christmas decorations.

Blogmas Post #13 There are only 12 days left until Christmas!  My question for you today is: Do you have any special dishes that you use around Christmas time?  If you know me, you know how much I LOVE coffee! You know you love coffee when you have more coffee cups than normal cups! Ha! That just means lots of friends can join me! As I made my coffee this morning, I realized I did not get down our Christmas mugs yet this year! The group of 4 came from a school family. The one on the end-"cotton headed ninny muggins"-I bought that for my hubby a few years ago!  Christmas coffee mugs This Christmas platter I use for potlucks at church during Christmas time.  Christmas platter  What about you?

Blogmas #12 There are only 13 days left until Christmas!  My question for you today is: What's your favorite  Christmas movie? I don't really have a favorite Christmas movie. I do enjoy watching some Christmas movies though. One of Scott's favorite movies is, "It's a Wonderful Life." I had never seen this movie  until  I married Scott. In fact, we just started watching the color edition the other night! We were trying to find a Christmas movie to watch Monday night and found "It's a wonderful life" in color! Neither one of us had ever seen it in color, so we picked that one! We are only half way through it so we still need to finish watching it. Comment  down below one of your favorite Christmas movies!

Blogmas Post # 11 There are only 2 weeks left until Christmas!  My question for you today is: Have you ever had a miscarriage?  Today's blog post is going to be a little different. I didn't blog yesterday. Why? I didn't have anything to say and December 10th is a special day in my heart. My heart ached yesterday and I didn't know what to say, so I didn't write anything. While talking with a friend last night, she encouraged me to share this today anyway.  So, as I sit here wrapped up in my blanket, my fireplace roaring, and a hot cup of freshly brewed coffee, I'm ready to share. If you have had a miscarriage, my heart breaks for you and I'm so sorry. Miscarriages are very hard and heartbreaking.  If you've never had one, it's very hard to relate. If you have had one, leave a comment or share your story to encourage other woman. We are all in this together  and  it helps to know that we aren't alone.  Four years ago

Blogmas Post #9 There are only 16 days left until  Christmas!  My question for you today is: Have you ever made a wreath before? I have wanted to make one for a long time. I had wanted to get some burlap and some other fun things to decorate with. Want to know a secret? My husband doesn't like burlap! I know...pretty crazy! Its a good thing I love him! So, I had to rethink my plan! I love coffee as most of you know! I came up with the idea of doing a coffee themed wreath. The first one I made is for some sweet friends and we can't wait to give it to them tomorrow! It will also work great with my coffee theme! I have a few more of these to make! If you have answered yes to making a wreath, please share a picture!

Blogmas Post #8 There are only 17 days left until Christmas!  My question for you today is: Do you do anything special for your neighbors at Christmas time? Since my husband and I moved into out house 2 years ago, we have baked cookies and brownies for our neighbors for Christmas! I usually bake about 10-12 dozen cookies. I have made chocolate chip, butterscotch, oatmeal, Reese's, chocolate peanut butter...the list goes on! After the cookies have cooled, I arrange them on a plate, wrap them up, put a card and tract on top, and deliver them! I love walking hand in hand with my love to each to these houses!

Blogmas Post #7 There are only 18 days left until Christmas!  My question for you today is: Do you send out  Christmas Cards or Christmas Pictures? I have a funny confession to make! I LOVE making Christmas cards but I'm terrible about sending them! I don't know what it is or why, but they never get sent. So, a few years ago we switched over from Christmas Cards to Christmas Pictures. I'm not sure why they are easier than a card, but it works for us! Our Christmas Pictures are coming in the mail today and I can't wait to see them!  Making cards is my hobby and thanks to my friends, I was able to sell some last year!  Some of the Christmas Cards I have made and sold.  Want to know what our Christmas Picture looks like? You will have to wait until it comes in the mail, it's our favorite one so far!

Blogmas Post #6 There are only 19 days left until Christmas!  My question for you today is: Do you have a favorite holiday beverage? I've tried a few of the special coffee drinks at our favorite coffee shop and a few others in order to write this post! However, I usually only put stevia and half n half in my coffee, so this was fun to do! I don't like my coffee sweet, so I asked for 1/2 sweet. I have to be able to taste the coffee! lol I have tried the Caramel Brûlée latte, Peppermint Mocha, and the Peppermint Bark Latte.  If I had to choose one of these, it would be the Peppermint Bark Latte.  Peppermint Bark Latte  So, what was my conclusion? I have not found my favorite holiday beverage, so I'm still on the hunt! My husband LOVES egg nog and or holly nog....I don't, so I don't know the difference! lol Maybe you are not a coffee drinker (not sure we can be friends), or egg nog, what about tea? Cranberry Wassail? Hot Apple Cider?

Blogmas Post #5 There are only 20 days left until Christmas!  My question for you today is:  Does your town decorate for Christmas? Our town does! They decorates the square in the middle of town, the street lights, and many shops decorate too!! It's a very beautiful place to walk at night! They have lights that hang down from the trees all year around but it seems more special at Christmas time. Scott got off of work at a reasonable time last night. So we went up town and walked around the beautifully decorated town square.  This place is familiar to me. After our 2nd miscarriage (on Christmas Day) 5 days later, we decided to get out and get some fresh air. We came to this exact place. I have a black and white picture in from of this same tree. It did bring back some feelings of sadness. However, at the same time, I was reminded of one of God's greatest gifts to me during that time-Peace! Beautiful walk last night with my favorite guy!  I love

Blogmas Post #4 There are only 21 days left before Christmas!  The question for you today is: What's your favorite Christmas song and hymn?  My favorite Christmas song would be Carol of the bells! I love that song! I still don't know all of the words, but I do love it!  My favorite Christmas hymn would be "Thou Didst Leave thy Throne." Not many people seem to know this song. It's a good one! At our former church when we picked favorites to sing, I picked this one and hardly anyone knew it, not even the song leader! Have you heard this song before?  "Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne" was written in 1864 by Emily Elizabeth Steele Elliot. As I was researching this hymn for fun, I found a post that Paul Tripp wrote about the song and I really liked what he had to say, so I thought I would share: "It's an amazing story, one that becomes no less amazing with every retelling: the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords lea

Blogmas Post #3 There are only 22 days left until  Christmas!  The question for you today is:  Do you have an ornament that's special to you personally or as a married couple?  I love decorating the tree each year, its one of my favorite things to do! I looked at all our ornaments to see which one was the most special to us, I found two of them!  The first one is this ornament. It was given to us as a wedding gift. I ordered a picture small enough to fit in it.  The second one is this ornament. It came from my most favorite store in the whole world!!!!! If you aren't from Michigan, you probably have no idea what store I am talking about. Michigan is known for many things, one of them being a Christmas town with the world's largest Christmas store! If you ever go to Michigan, I encourage you to go to the town of Frankenmuth! While there, go and visit Bronner's, it's the Worlds largest Christmas store! They have every ornament you could

Blogmas Post #2 There are only 23 Days left until Christmas! The question for you today: Do you have a special food tradition that is made every year at Christmas?  There is one food tradition that we had that brings to mind someone very special to me, who is no longer here. Our special food was called "Baked Apples" and they were made by my Grandmother. No one made them like she did. My Grandma passed away 7 1/2 years ago to breast cancer. I asked for the recipe one year and I'm so glad I did. However, my grandma never followed recipes. She would always say add some of this or a bit of that. It was kind of funny because I wanted exact measurements and she would say make it your own recipe. She also assured me that I would know how to make them and wouldn't need to always follow the recipe. This is true today, I don't use the recipe now as I have memorized it and made it my own. I have made them for many friends and family. Have I made them for you? I

Blogmas Post #1 Happy December 1st  y'all! Christmas is 24 days away! I thought I would try to do something fun for the month of December, up until Christmas. The first question I have for you is this: Are you a real or fake tree person?  If you know me, you should already know my answer! REAL all the way!!! My husband and I have a tradition of getting our REAL Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving or very close to that date. I have enjoyed 6 wonderful Christmas years with Scott! I'm looking forward to our 7th one this year! Each year we have had a real tree! When we were traveling all over the USA and came back to celebrate Christmas with a friend so she wouldn't be alone...she had a little real Christmas tree she brought to the hotel with us! Lots of good memories over the years! We just got our tree on Monday and I had fun decorating it on Tuesday. I thought it would be fun to put up a picture of the tree each year...I couldn't find the 1st and 5th

Thanksgiving 2018

Thanksgiving 2018 Happy Thanksgiving y'all! What do YOU make for your Thanksgiving meal? Do you always have Turkey or Ham? I look forward to reading your comments! Scott and I don't usually have turkey for Thanksgiving...I know that was hard for some of you to hear! Why? We aren't really turkey fans and we would have turkey for days.   Scott and I decided to have brisket this year. It was so yummy! Maybe you've never heard of it or even tried it before, well, come on down! My first time trying brisket was with some friends in Corpus Christi. I called the smoke house where they specialize in brisket to see about placing my order in advance. The man on the phone laughed and said, "Ma'am, most people don't have brisket for  Thanksgiving, so you won't have to worry about ordering ahead of time." That made me chuckle! Now Scott and I plan on getting it every year, another tradition to mark down for us!  Thanksgiving menu 2018: ~

Day 25 of Thankfulness  November 25, 2018  Scripture post # 7  Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to share. It's been very encouraging to read these. I'm so thankful for Scripture! This is the last scripture post...it was suppose to go out on Sunday but didn't. Thanks again to the 33 of you that made this happen, this was a very fun series to do!  ~Scott didn't get to write out his why for his verse, so we will have another post at some time for our favorite verse and why.  ~Scott~ Genesis 1:1, "In the Beginning God created the heavens and the earth." ~Jenny~  Psalm 73:26, "My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever." ~Samuel~ Colossians 2:10, "And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:" "Colossians 2:10 speaks of being complete in Christ which is a wonderful reminder." ~Brian~  Psalm 145:
