Thanksgiving 2018

Thanksgiving 2018 Happy Thanksgiving y'all! What do YOU make for your Thanksgiving meal? Do you always have Turkey or Ham? I look forward to reading your comments! Scott and I don't usually have turkey for Thanksgiving...I know that was hard for some of you to hear! Why? We aren't really turkey fans and we would have turkey for days.   Scott and I decided to have brisket this year. It was so yummy! Maybe you've never heard of it or even tried it before, well, come on down! My first time trying brisket was with some friends in Corpus Christi. I called the smoke house where they specialize in brisket to see about placing my order in advance. The man on the phone laughed and said, "Ma'am, most people don't have brisket for  Thanksgiving, so you won't have to worry about ordering ahead of time." That made me chuckle! Now Scott and I plan on getting it every year, another tradition to mark down for us!  Thanksgiving menu 2018: ~

Day 25 of Thankfulness  November 25, 2018  Scripture post # 7  Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to share. It's been very encouraging to read these. I'm so thankful for Scripture! This is the last scripture post...it was suppose to go out on Sunday but didn't. Thanks again to the 33 of you that made this happen, this was a very fun series to do!  ~Scott didn't get to write out his why for his verse, so we will have another post at some time for our favorite verse and why.  ~Scott~ Genesis 1:1, "In the Beginning God created the heavens and the earth." ~Jenny~  Psalm 73:26, "My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever." ~Samuel~ Colossians 2:10, "And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:" "Colossians 2:10 speaks of being complete in Christ which is a wonderful reminder." ~Brian~  Psalm 145:

Day 24 of Thankfulness  November 24, 2018 Scripture post #6 ~Lauren~ Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ with strengtheneth me." "Throughout life, you will find yourself thinking you can do everything! As a teacher, mom (pregnant again), wife, piano teacher, youth pastors wife, church's main pianist, cheerleading coach-I thought I could do it all! Lately, I have started feeling so weary because I'm exhausted. I'm depressed because I can't get everything on my list done. Then it hit me...I can do all things through CHRIST. It's okay to say no to some tasks. It's okay to give up and say Lord my life is yours now and You alone are going to have to help me complete these tasks."  ~Emily~  1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought weigh a price: ther

Day 23 of Thankfulness  November 23, 2018 Scripture post #5 ~Janet~ Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. " "This is my favorite verse. The knowledge that we don't have  to EARN His grace-it's a free gift--keeps me going most days. What a blessing!" ~Amber~ Isaiah 41:10, "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God;  I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." "In my own life, I tend to be scared in new situations yet God says, "Do not fear, for I am with you-I will strengthen you and help you-I will uphold you with my righteous right hand," I can go into every situation I may face knowing that God will give me everything I may need for the moment."  ~Sarah~ 2 Corinthians 12:9  "And H

Day 22 of Thankfulness  November 22, 2018 Scripture Post #4 ~Phyllis~ Matthew 6:22, "The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light." "Matthew 6:22 was the verse I chose for my life verse at graduation from Bible college. I like it because it reminds me to focus on the Lord. If I keep my eyes on Him my life will show forth Him in how I live." ~Grace~ Isaiah 26:3, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on the: because he trusted in thee."  "It seems like life has had a few more bumps in it than usual lately, and as I am living in the middle of loud, wild children, trying to stay on top of cooking, cleaning and schooling, it seems like I might go insane if life throws one more curveball at me. This verse has been my reminder that even infall this, if I keep my heart and mind focused in Him, there can be peace."

Day 21 of Thankfulness

Day 21 of Thankfulness  November 21, 2018 Scripture post #3  ~Nicole~ Pslam 27:1-14 "My favorite scripture for years has been Psalm 27. It's carried me through a lot of really hard times and spoke to my heart in different ways at different times. There are so many facets to the chapter that speak in so many ways! I LOVE how David was super real and honest to the LORD about his feelings and didn't just stuff them. Who knows better than God how he felt anyway? He was real and honest about his feelings and then he PRAISED GOD!  I love that!!"  ~Claire~  Galatians 6:9, "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season, we shall reap if we faint not." "It gets so hard to turn the other cheek sometimes. No matter what the circumstance is, when you were continuing to do what's right ,but it continues to seem like the circumstances are not improving, life gets discouraging. This verse is the promise that I hold onto that

Day 20 of Thankfulness  November 20, 2018 Scripture Post # 2 ~Gradon~ Psalm 63:1-"O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water." "That is what I want my attitude towards God to be." ~Courtney~  Philippians 1:6, "And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring me to completion at the day of Jesus Christ."  "I really like this verse because, Christ not only saved me, but is going to make me complete. What a great day that will be to know all the I've been 'training' for on this side of eternity He will bring to completion at Christ's feet."  ~Ruth~ Acts 11:23B, "..With purrpose of heart that they would cleave unto the Lord." "My favorite verse is Acts 11:23 where it says 'with purpose of heart...cleave unto the Lord.'  I feel like having an apathetic person

Day 19 of Thankfulness

Day 19 of Thankfulness November 19, 2018 Scripture post # 1  ~Scripture-I'm so thankful for Scripture and for the comfort it brings me. I'm going to be doing something a little bit different on these next few blogposts. In the beginning of November, I asked about 75 people if they would tell me what their favorite verse was and why. Only about 1/2 of those people responded. It was very interesting to get so many different answers! Thank you to those of you who took the time to share with me!  This has been a blessing for me to read these.  I hope this is an encouragement to you or to someone who may need it.   ~Joy~ ~Isaiah 55:8-9 say, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts." "This verse has special significance in my life for many years now. In 1983 my husband was diagnosed with
